Fifteen remixed tracks from the vanguard of West Coast electronic music.
The Flying Skulls are at it again! Just months after the world-wide premier of their album "Take Flight!" the Skulls are dropping "Abducted!" a remix album in volumes featuring some of the best West Coast electronic music producers.
Volume One is available on 1320 Records, and features remixes from Cyril Noir, Jason Short & J.Rogers (Blipswitch) Ribotto, Bender, BBQ Chicken Dub, and more, plus art by renown mix media artist Ian Hill. This marks the first release from the collaboration known as BBQ Chicken Dub, featuring J.Tonal, Snareface, Jerome Forney, and a whole bunch of BBQ chicken. The result? A slow, methodical re-visioning of classic Skulls songs... spicy, tangy, meaty, nu school with shifting basstones... totally off the clock and live. The release also features a remix by Blipswitch founder Joe Rogers and Jason Short featuring vocals by Steve Weisz. The result is a skanked-out, bass-bin friendly walk into dubstep land. SF uber-vocalist Audio Angel also graces two tracks, a remix of "Skulls & Angels" by Ribotto flips the track with a huge kick and a crackin snare and reimagines melody lines into island breezes... think: Mojitos in hand.
Volume Two is available exclusively from Daly City Records, and features remixes from Mochipet, BBQ Chicken Dub, Preshish Moments, Ribotto, and Vladimir Computin, plus art by renown mix media artist Souther Salazar. Mochi pairs his internationally loved mash-up sensibility and palette of exotic sounds with Zap Tap's vocal gymnastics. Audio Angel also makes another appearance on Vol 2 with tracks, a remix of "Skulls & Angels" by Preshish Moments (2008 SF Laptop/Machine Battle Champ) that contains a frenetic, almost macabre energy, as well as a bass-heavy remix of the same song by electronic band MO2, with Audio Angel riffing over a breaks track with jungly aesthetic.
